Big Sky Owners Association
Board of Directors
We are fortunate to have a diverse board comprised of both full-time and part-time residents. Each brings a wealth of experience that helps guide the overall management of the BSOA. With business backgrounds ranging from accounting to the legal profession, engineering, small business, management, and real estate, we appreciate their willingness to volunteer time and talent to direct the BSOA and to help Big Sky protect and maintain our quality of life.

Please feel free to contact a 2008/2009 BSOA Board of Director with any questions or comments.

Barb Starz Barb Starz - Chair bstarz@bigskyresort.com, Term ends 08/2010

Barb has lived and worked in Big Sky for fifteen years. She is currently the Director of Lodging for Big Sky Resort and Manager for four homeowners associations. She has served on the BSOA Board for 5 years and also serves on the local Big Brothers Big Sisters Board. She enjoys running, skiing and golfing. Living, working and raising a family in Big Sky, she feels it is her reasonability to get involved in the growth and development of our community. The dynamics of our community are changing rapidly, and with projects such as the parks and trails, she believes the BSOA is an integral part to that growth. We must consider what long term roles the BSOA will play in the community and focus on enhancing the life of our members.
Steve Barrett Steve Barrett - Vice Chair sbarrett@crowleylaw.com, Term ends 08/2010

Steve has lived in Montana most of his life and has been actively involved in the Big Sky area for about twenty years. He represents Boyne USA Inc. as their attorney. He has practiced law in Bozeman for more than twenty years.

Steve strongly believes that the Big Sky area must be intelligently developed. He believes the BSOA Board must continue to focus on core development issues that have long term impact on BSOA owners.
Mitch Furr Mitch Furr- Secretary mitchfurr@eralandmark.com, Term ends 08/2009

As a Big Sky resident and condominium owner, Mitch is concerned about the continued growth in Big Sky without a governing body in place. She has witnessed the difficulty of achieving this transition and thinks her education as well as her understanding of the community is beneficial to the Board. She is very interested in the expansion of our trails and parks and enjoys being involved in this project. She is currently chair of the Park Committee, is an active Rotarian, and co-chair of the Big Sky Winterfest.

Rumsey Young Rumsey Young rumsey@3rivers.net Term Ends 08/2010

Rumsey is a full time resident of Big Sky and enjoys hiking and biking as well as skiing in the winter. He is in the process of biuilding his year round home in Big Sky.

He believes that Big Sky is maturing now with the addition of a high school and the possibility of municipal incorporation which he wholeheartedly supports.  He also believes that future development must stay focused on the core issues around which Big Sky was originally conceived- quality outdoor recreation, protection of the environment, and discouragement of development just for the sake of development.

Gregory L. Ruff Gregory L. Ruff gruff@usa.netm Term Ends 08/2009

Greg's position with regard to the future of Big Sky mirrors his philosophy in initially becoming a part of the community- that to enjoy the privileges of being part of such a wonderful place, one has to work to see that place develop responsibly, thoughtfully, and with careful regard to its virtues- Encouraging development that preserves and enhances them, and discouraging unbalanced, thoughtless growth for growth's sake.
