Arts Council of Big Sky (ACBS)Formerly called the Big Sky Association for the Arts – has a long and colorful history since its inception in 1989 as Big Sky’s premier non-profit cultural organization. At various events throughout the year, the ACBS provides the Big Sky community with a wide variety of offerings to please both residents and visitors alike.

Big Sky Community Organization (BSCO)The Big Sky Community Organization connects people to recreational opportunities by acquiring, preserving and promoting sustainable places and programs for all. Several volunteer committees are organized to carry out this mission including: Parks, Trails, Historic Crail Ranch, Big Sky Softball League, Big Sky Tennis Association and Camp Big Sky. The BSCO owns and maintains the Big Sky Community Park, Kircher Park, Ousel Falls Park, and several miles of trails. Camp Big Sky is also a popular summer camp program for local and visiting children.

The library is located in the Ophir School campus on Hwy. 191 2.5 miles south of Hwy. 64. The entrance is at the north end of the school facility. Books, Audiobooks, and DVDs are available for checkout. Computers and printers are available for use. The library is operated by the Friends of the Big Sky Community Library.

They selflessly give of their time and resources to help those in need, any time of day or night in all weather conditions. Search and rescue volunteers purchase and maintain their own equipment and take time off work without compensation for training and emergency response.

Big Sky Ski Education Foundation (BSSEF)A non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer-based organization founded in 1993 to offer recreational and competitive ski programs to the community. BSSEF’s mission is to provide an opportunity for kids to become great skiers, engage in healthy competition, exhibit good sportsmanship and develop an appreciation for the spirit of skiing and the mountain environment. The BSSEF offers Alpine (Youth Ski League, Buddy Werner, Junior Development, and Masters), Freeride and Nordic programs.

Gallatin River Task Force (GRTF)Formerly known as Gallatin River Force, GRTF exists to promote public stewardship of aquatic resources in the Gallatin River Watershed through community education, citizen involvement in water quality monitoring, and scientific data collection. The GRTF is a locally-led nonprofit 501(c)(3) watershed group headquartered along the famous Gallatin River in Big Sky, Montana. The Task Force is governed by a board of community members representing a wide variety of stakeholders, including homeowners, recreational business owners, developers, and local water resource managers.

Rotary Club of Big Sky #64256It includes professionals and business leaders from around the greater Big Sky area who volunteer to promote world understanding and peace. Rotary has over 34,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and regions, and encourage high ethical standards by carrying out humanitarian projects to address issues such as poverty, health, hunger, education and the environment. The Rotary Club of Big Sky was founded in 2004 and has enjoyed fundraising successes that have in turn funded both community and international projects including improvements to the Big Sky Community Park and Kircher Park, bus shelters and emergency telephones in the Gallatin canyon. Rotary Club of Big Sky meets Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at Buck’s T-4.

FOBSE is organized exclusively for charitable purposes that enhance and support the education of Big Sky students and the Big Sky community, including cultural education and entertainment.
We've engaged in a number of long-term projects that support the Big Sky School District and the community, such as facilitating the opening of Lone Peak High in Big Sky and fundraising to upgrade the track and field, installation of bleachers, and donation of an activity bus. FOBSE promoted and organized funding for the 1:1 technology initiative. We are also proud to sponsor a scholarship effort, raising and donating scholarships to graduating seniors who will attend college and other post-secondary education programs. |
Big Sky Chamber of CommerceA membership driven organization of 400 businesses in and around the Big Sky area, including the Gallatin Valley, West Yellowstone, and regional areas of southwestern Montana. Membership with the Chamber brings a variety of networking and outreach opportunities to businesses, as well as value built in the form of marketing and advertising opportunities, promotional advantages and advocacy benefits. The Chamber strives to promote policies and practices that will enrich the area’s business culture, while respecting the character of the community in which we live.

Big Sky Community Food BankTheir vision is to help Big Sky become a stable and livable year-round resort community for all. They promote a vibrant and local economy by utilizing community resources to preserve the food security, health and dignity of those in need in the Big Sky area. Community members who would like to support the Food Bank can do so by making a monetary donation, donating food, or by volunteering at the Food Bank. Collection jars and donation food barrels are located throughout the community.

Big Sky Natural Resource CouncilThe mission of the Natural Resource Council is to provide sustainable solutions for natural resource issues in the Big Sky community through a collaborative ecosystem approach. BSNRC envisions a community where people strive to preserve and enhance their land and associated resources such as wildlife, timber, soil, water, recreation, and aesthetics.

Gallatin/Big Sky Noxious Weed CommitteeOrganized under the Northern Rocky Resource Conservation & Development Council, the Committee is a citizen-led volunteer committee actively working to combat invasive plant species in the Big Sky Community and along the Gallatin River Corridor. By bringing federal, state, and local partners together, the Committee has facilitated a successful multi-faceted campaign against noxious weeds that includes education/outreach, weed pulls, one-on-one landowner assistance, and weed mapping and monitoring.

Big Sky PTOThe Big Sky PTO, formerly known as Ophir School Council, is a parent-teacher organization that raises funds for programs, supplies, equipment and experiences which enhance and enrich the school day and year for teachers and students attending classes within the Big Sky School District. BSPTO provides direct funding to teachers for purchases for their classroom, pays for specialized activities like Nordic and downhill skiing and swimming, funds field trips, supports the expeditions that differentiate the school from others, funds library programs, helps bring visiting artists and musicians and actors to the school, funds transportation, supports the Booster Club and more.
Women in ActionWomen in Action is dedicated to enriching the lives of the children and families in the community of Big Sky, Montana. Through ongoing volunteer activism and fundraising activites, their goal is to provide our undeserved rural community with access to affordable health, family and educational services. Since 2005 Women in Action has been successfully providing these valuable services with the support and commitment of local volunteers.

Warren Miller Performing Arts Centerhe primary mission of the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center is to establish and maintain a clear and stable artistic infrastructure to grow a community of confident performers and inspired audiences. The Warren Miller Performing Arts Center (WMPAC) is a collaborative initiative of the Big Sky School District #72, the Friends of Big Sky Education (FOBSE), and the Big Sky community .Along with national acts, the WMPAC hosts art events and education within the local community, including The Big Sky Community Theatre program for all area adults with a passion to perform and the Big Sky Community Chorus for those who enjoy singing.
The Warren Miller Performing Arts Center (WMPAC), is located in Big Sky’s Gallatin Canyon, at Big Sky’s Ophir School campus. The Center’s namesake, ski movie icon Warren Miller, and his wife Laurie spend half of their time in Big Sky. The Arts Center was named in honor of Miller in part due to his involvement in the community, and also because his legacy demonstrates a bridge between skiing and the arts. |
