John Seelye – Chair
Sweet Grass Hills Property Owner
John Seelye has called Big Sky home since 1996, bringing nearly 30 years of construction experience and community involvement to the Big Sky Architectural Committee (BSAC).
Originally from Litchfield, Connecticut, John began his construction career while attending the University of Connecticut. His love of the mountains took him to Summit County and Vail, Colorado, where he honed his carpentry skills building high-end mountain homes. Drawn by Big Sky’s skiing and the opportunity to start his own business, he moved here in 1996 and founded Big Sky Woodwork & Design in 1997, which later evolved into Big Sky Build, a leading construction company in Southwest Montana.
John and his family live, work and play in Big Sky. He has been actively involved in the community, including serving on the Big Sky Fire Board. With investments in residential and commercial properties and land throughout Big Sky, John brings extensive knowledge of the community’s history, development and future.
As BSAC Chair, he combines decades of local construction expertise with a commitment to thoughtful development and preserving Big Sky’s unique mountain character.
