Barbara Rowley – Chair

Barbara Rowley has called Big Sky home for 35+ years, raising her two daughters with her husband, Taylor Middleton, in the Meadow Village home they built as newlyweds. A journalist and longtime community advocate, Barbara has played an instrumental role in shaping Big Sky. Her many contributions include creating Camp Big Sky, co-founding Big Sky Broadway, helping secure legislation that made a local high school possible, leading the effort to build Big Sky’s first community playground and securing federal funding for the highway trail. She also helped establish the original BSOA POST Committee. Barbara has served on the boards of the Big Sky Community Organization, Warren Miller Performing Arts Center and Big Sky Chapel. She is a former elected school board trustee, a founding member of Friends of Big Sky Education and a former Ophir School PTO president. She currently chairs the Colorado Outdoor Education Center. Barbara holds a master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English Literature from Washington University. Joe Swiatek – Vice Chair
Aspen Groves Area Property Owner
Joe Swiatek has deep roots in Big Sky, with his family’s connection dating back to the 1980s. He and his wife began visiting regularly in 1992 and built their home in Aspen Groves in 2005. Joe brings extensive leadership experience from his 20-year FBI career, including 13 years in leadership positions. He holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Villanova University and an MBA from the University of Denver. His emergency services career began as a professional ski patroller at Keystone Resort and expanded to include fire, EMS, law enforcement and search and rescue. He also served as Executive Director of a nonprofit medical response organization, overseeing a million-dollar budget and emergency operations. Since retiring from the FBI in 2020, Joe has remained actively involved in the Big Sky community through Big Sky Search and Rescue, Big Sky Ski Patrol and the Chamber’s Infrastructure and Advocacy Subcommittee. Now a grandfather who splits his time between Big Sky and his family farm in Virginia, Joe is committed to preserving Big Sky’s unique character while thoughtfully managing its continued growth.Read More
Gina Dee – Treasurer

Gina Dee first came to Big Sky in 2016 for the Yellowstone Club Village Core interior finishes project and became a full-time resident in 2018. She and her husband purchased and renovated a home on Curley Bear Road in the Meadows in 2023. With an office in Town Center and experience living in several Big Sky neighborhoods, she brings a broad perspective on the community. Gina directs a local business and leads an architectural millwork installation company with approximately 50 team members on site. She brings experience in leadership, budgeting, communication, and managing complex projects. Her community involvement includes service on the Big Sky Architectural Committee (BSAC) and volunteering with the Community Center and Arts Council. During COVID, she organized a children’s art camp that raised funds for the local food bank and the Arts Council’s “Pay It Forward” program. As a BSOA Board member, Gina is committed to bringing people together, preserving Big Sky’s character, and supporting thoughtful, community-minded decisions that protect property values and enhance members’ quality of life.Read More
Sara Turner-Malhotra – Secretary

Sarah Turner-Malhotra brings a valuable dual perspective to the BSOA Board, having experienced Big Sky as both a tenant and homeowner over several years. Born and raised in rural Michigan, she relocated to Big Sky in 2015 and has since established herself as a committed long-term resident with deep community ties.Sarah Turner-Malhotra brings a valuable perspective to the BSOA Board as both a longtime Big Sky resident and a former tenant. Originally from rural Michigan, she moved to Big Sky in 2015 and has established deep roots in the community. With a decade of experience living in Mountain Village, Sarah understands the challenges facing upper-area residents who may feel disconnected from BSOA operations. She is particularly focused on strengthening relationships between Mountain Village, Madison County and the Gallatin County/Meadow Village community while improving transparency and communication with homeowners. Sarah’s ten-year career in Big Sky’s tourism industry, including five years as Group Reservations Manager at Big Sky Resort, has provided her with extensive experience in stakeholder relations, hospitality and operational management. Her professional background gives her a valuable understanding of the balance between residential needs and the tourism economy that sustains Big Sky. Dane Smith

Dane Smith and his wife have been visiting Big Sky since 2000 and have owned property here since 2002. With a home on Little Coyote Road and additional properties in Mountain Village and Powder Ridge, Dane has a long-standing connection to the community. His family’s love for Big Sky now extends to the next generation, as he and his wife share ownership of a property with their adult children. Dane brings extensive real estate and HOA leadership experience to the BSOA Board. He currently serves on the Fairways 2 and Lakota 4/5 HOA Boards and has previously served on the boards of Powder Ridge 2/3, Village Center and the Summit Hotel. A retired real estate executive, Dane spent 35 years developing, renovating, managing and leasing major retail shopping centers. He also has significant experience owning, building and managing residential properties, ranging from single-family homes to large apartment communities. Dane serves on the board of the I Have a Dream Foundation, supporting underserved students in Dallas. A full-time Big Sky resident for the past 11 years and a Meadow View property owner since 2019, Zack brings a deep appreciation for the natural beauty, strong sense of community and hardworking people that make Big Sky special. As Vice President of Retail & Rental at Big Sky Resort and a member of its Senior Leadership Team, Zack brings valuable experience in leadership, operations and collaboration. He also served for two years on the Big Sky Community Housing Trust Board of Directors and participated in committees focused on addressing the community’s housing needs. With a strong belief in collaboration and open communication, Zack is committed to preserving and enhancing the qualities that make Big Sky such a special place to live. Tim Sanders is a part-time Big Sky resident and has owned property in the Alpenglow Condominium Community since early 2025. He and his family chose Big Sky for its natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and strong sense of community. As a Managing Director at Piper Sandler & Co., Tim brings more than twenty years of experience in financial advisory, restructuring, and governance. He has advised federal agencies, financial institutions, corporations, and court-appointed fiduciaries through complex financial challenges. He has also advised and served on public, private, nonprofit, and community association boards, including in Treasurer, President, and Board Chair roles. Tim brings expertise in budgeting, strategic planning, and fiduciary oversight, along with an understanding of how investment and development affect communities.
